Top 10 Most Underrated Kpop Boy Groups

Everyone who knows me, knows I’m obsessed with the underdogs, in Kpop. They put in so much effort and more work potency in hopes that they’d make it big one day. The underrated groups get less media coverage and variety shows and tend to be from smaller labels. I have a fascination with the underrated bands, because is their content was given to an American Pop star, it would be a chart topper, but in this cutthroat industry, being less popular is a killer. You can get disbanded and lose all the work of years and training you did in a moment.Their content is usually truly amazing, but since they aren’t from the Big 3 labels of Kpop, Yg, Sm, Or Jyp, they tend to suffer. So here are 10 underrated boy groups that deserve attention and they may impress you.

1- Boys Republic:
OneJun, Minsu, Dabin, Sungjun, Suwoong.
A hip hop based boyband who has versatility in each comeback. Their variety show is also absolutely hilarious. There is just something about these guys, their charismatic and hilarious, but also have serious skills and weird talents. They work very hard and also promote in very harsh conditions too. Their constantly under a zone of pressure, but still manage to uphold their cheery image.

2-BAP:
Bang, Himchan, Jongup, Youngjae, Daehyun, Zelo
There was an ear when Bap was a top band, but they’ve lost that rank and slipped. Not because their content got worse, but because they had to take a hiatus mid-career, and go through a long legal band against record label under the pretense of abuse and exploitation. They have truly endured ALOT! and have been around for such a long time that their talents are molded into them. They also create alot of their content and lyrics by themselves. Which means there is a creativity to their element and sense of self expression.They have impactful rapping skills and dancing. Plus Daehyun is known to be one of the greatest male vocals in Kpop

3-ToppDogg:
Bjoo, Hansol, Pgoon, Atom, Hojoon, Yano, Nakta, Xero, Jenissi, Sangdo, Gohn, Kiddoh, Segoong.
Yes 13 members, its crazy. But Gohn, Kiddoh, Segoong filed a lawsuit and have left the label since a while. The rest of the 10 are still hustling. There are probably no better dancers than these guys, the only award they’ve ever won is Best Male Dance Performance. They go into that category of underrated hip hop groups. They have such a intense performing ability, and since a rapping band, their rapping is beyond perfection. They are sooo underrated that its a pain. No one possesses that hardcore charisma they do. And working in a huge band under a small label is so difficult. Not only are they not getting the necessary attention but, they have to share everything and dorm between 10 guys. Cmon man, thats very hard. They deserve alot more fans for their level of hustle.

4-BigFlo:
Jungkyun, Hightop, Zuk, Yuseong, Ron, Kichun
Here is whats amazing about this band. They all assembled and created it themselves! All of these guys are professionals who came together and formed a band. Jungkyun is an experienced composer, dancer, and has been in bands before, he lead this production and became the producer and lead member for Bigflo, while Hightop a professional underground rapper, joined and became the rapper and co-composer for the group, Zuk a professional dance teacher became the main dancer and choreographer of the group, Ron is the visual of the group, Kichun is new, and Yuseong was a Chinese model who joined. This group is very hardcore, their music is heavy, power packed and full of rebellion! They drip masculinity and leadership in each music video. Leader Jungkyun also made a solo Japanese debut, “Beauty Stupid.”

5- VAV:
St.van, Barron, Ace, Gyeoul, Jacob, Zehan, Xiao
I’ve made a post on these guys before. Their views are tragically low. They were the first band to be put out by their teeny label. so they are extremely underrated. They have a variety show as well. They are a fantasy concept band, based off of vampires, priests, and werewolves. Its not a cliche concept though, its a creative spin and their music videos symbolize the struggle of a pack of boys who are vamps, except for one priest and werewolf in the group, who endure adventurous concepts and rely on their loyalty and friendship to stick through, they are the “Brotherhood.” This group debuted on Halloween 2015, and they work veryyyy hard. Promoting, doing showcases, and small time gigs in hope to get recognition. Their music videos are so theatrical, with crazy outfits and huge fantasy themed sets and effects. Their cinematics are like intense sci-fi movie quality. They might be the band with the best visual videos honestly. The amount of investment their label is putting in, is not getting the fruit of victory they deserve.

6-JJCC:
Simba, Prince mak, Eddy, Eco, Sancheong, Zica
The interesting thing with this poppy hip hop band, is that they were created by the Jackie Chan. They are also very versatile. Don’t expect repetition from them. They are  always bold and loud and colorful. These guys have sacrificed alot for this band and deserve the fame for it. Simba and Prince Mak actually ran away from home to accomplish this dream. They practice for incredulous hours each day and their choreos are intense. The aesthetics they have in each music video is amazing. Its always colorful, weird, and brand new. Trust me, they are a refreshment in a repetitive industry.

7-Up10Tion:
Jinhoo, Bitto, Kuhn, Kogyeol, Gyujin, Sunyeol, Xiao, Hwanhee, Wooshin, Wei.
Yes 10 guys in this one, But this band is like my children. I’ve followed these guys progress since debut, they’ve been azmazing. They also have a variety show. I see the potency in them to be the next big boy band honestly, if they get the attention needed. Their music is more R&B influenced with a softer sound, but their teamwork is impeccable. They all suit each other so well, and uphold their positions in the band sooo well. They have rappers, dancers, amazing high note singers, and a cute visual too. They have the “cute boy next door” kind of feel, where they seem so genuine and simple, that you enjoy it. This too is a versatile band, and they will amaze you every time. There is something very nostalgic about them, like if your the Kpop fan who misses how korean boy bands were like in the early 2000s, then this is the band for you. They are under the same label as Teen Top. They are very colorful and cheery and charismatic. The 3 C’s. They are the refreshing band as well.

8-Monsta X:
Jooheon, Wonho, Hyungwon, Kihyun, Minhyuk, Shownu, IM.
Man are these boys savage!!! They are a new hip hop band and they have sooo much skill that they don’t even seem like rookies. They can rap seriously, and everything from the dancing and hardcore concepts. Its just astounding. They are also full of rebellion and charisma and have rebellious bad boy music videos to bizarre surreal kinds of music videos. The have variety too, but they keep that feel about them in every music video. Monsta x is very easily likeable, I guarantee.

9-Nu’est:
Jr, Ren, Aaron, Baekho, Minhyun
This band is very artistic in their concept. Their definitely different. Very different. They have a very melancholic tone to their songs, very R&B influenced. Their songs have a emotional edge to them, their music videos tend to have aspects of distorted dreams and deep symbolism. Its a very out of the box band when it comes to concept and their fashion sense tends to be outlandish. Their music is calming and kind of puts you in a daze. Weirdly, the darker and emotional sound they have makes you think. They deserve more credit honestly.

10-Vixx:
Leo, Ravi, N, Hongbin, Ken, Hyuk
Now Vixx I know in Kpop terms isn’t horribly underrated, but these guy hit like a peak of success with one music video then go back to being underrated over and over. They are inconsistent in fame, they’ll be trendy one day and back to underrated the next. Regardless, they still don’t get the bulk of fans and fame they should. They were one of the few Kpop bands to go down the creepy and gore road in Kpop. They have a very dark theme. Their music videos are phenomenal, they have everything from robots, to lost love, to voodoo dolls, to chains and chokers, and their whole concept is dark and fantastical with a slight hint of kinkiness. It’d always very interesting, their concepts always tell some sort of broken hearted love story, and it can get quite emotional but its a jam at the same time. They were one of my first few Kpop bands back when I started. Still proud of them.
